If the bird is an older juvenile or an adult and you post a close picture of it, we might be able to figure out the gender.

Age? Did you get it at a pet store? If so, what did they tell you her age was? If the bird is an adult, it's a hen BUT if the bird is a juvenile, it could be a male.

Ahhh, great! Then, wait until it goes through the juvenile molt and the adult plumage will tell you its gender. If it loses the grey on the face and the pearls, it's a male - if it doesn't, it's a female.

Most birds who cannot fly love to come out and climb to the top of their cages. This would help for yours. She will have some control over her life and be much happier. You will be rewarded with much more vocal activity.

But flying is always better :) You should definetly let her flight feathers grow out next time she molts. Birds can only be truly happy when allowed to be a bird, to do what they're meant to do - fly! Plus they need the exercise for their health, climbing or walking will never be enough. Especially if her diet isn't the healthiest. But generally, birds prefer to be up high, so climbing on top of the cage will do until she's allowed to go anywhere she wants.

When a bird grows it's wings back and begins to fly, his personality will change for the better. He has more control over his life and knows he can escape if you scare him. Many came clipped but grew their wings back. They become more social.
