Made big progress in our relationship!

Postby hlasdf » Wed Apr 10, 2013 6:21 pm

So I got Daisy in January from a bird farm and although she'd been hand fed, she was left alone with the other birds after feeding, and after being weaned. This meant she was wary of humans by the time I got her. She was 9 weeks old when we picked her up and an absolutely "no touching" kind of bird. I can't even count the times she ran away from me because she thought I was going to touch her! But slowly, she allowed me to scratch her beak, then pet her head, and just occasionally, a quick pat on her wings. Of course she still wasn't into letting me give her scritches unless she was extremely tired and cuddled up somewhere. That is, until recently. It was all happening so gradually that I hadn't realized until now! Daisy had been allowing me to preen her even when she wasn't tired! In fact, sometimes she pushes her head into my fingers when she sees them coming in for scritches :).
And although she's still having a bit of trouble stepping up, with help from Marie and her "informal training" sessions, Daisy's getting better at that too!
So yeah, I just wanted to share how awesome this is :D And thanks to everyone who put up/helped with my posts!

Oh that's very good progress! Isn't it so rewarding when you gain their trust? :D
