Hi guys, so the baby hahn macaw that i just had deliver to me, as i said before, was agressive the first day which was understandable it just came from a flight to a new environment. but then i started giving her treats from my hands while she's in the cage, but she always take it and then runs away from me. then i opened the door and got closer, she was still doing the same ( take and run ). i got her out and did a few times of making her come to get the treat and i would click every time she came close to get the treat. then i started getting my hands closer and closer until i was able to pet her a little but she still would run away first and then give up. something happened today ( second day ) which made her jump off my hands and then get scared again and not trust me. i did the treat from my hands again, but she still runs away from me. even if she is in the cage, every time i walk by, she would run to the other side. what am i doing wrong PLEASE. am i forcing her and she's coming unwillingly?

Please please tell me what is wrong and how can i FIX this, please!!!

thank you

I would say keep doing what you were doing at the start, sit outside the cage talking to her and offering treats, let her take them and run away. She will come back again and over time she wont move as far away or for as long. Always let her come to you, it may take a while but I promise the work you put in now will be rewarded eventually. Personally I would leave the clicker training for now until she is confident to not move away from you. Don't rush things whatever you do, no matter how tempting it is. When she is trusting enough to sit near you in her cage do come back and the forum users will guide you through the next stages :)

save the clicker training for a few months. your bird is just scared and just got off a flight and is now in a new environment with a new person. for the time being just love your bird and slowly handle if ready its not rocket science. it may take a few weeks for this bird to start liking you or maybe even months. just make sure your bird has a large cage and gets to come out and spend time with you when he/shes ready do not force it upon him/her
