Step up problem

Postby Msaad » Wed Aug 21, 2013 2:46 pm

When i start teaching christophe to step up, (like puting my hand under his stomach) its either he bite or fly away, a parrot trainer told me to after breaking his fear of wood (and that's what happened yesterday) i got to put the wooden or any pershe under his stomach, he will step up automaticly, but the first step is to clip his wings just for one time, so he could be trained. Any other ideas?
I'll say it again :p : he just fly away acting as " i can fly, woohoo, catch me if you can!"

It's not a good idea to clip wings. Wings are what make a parrot a parrot, not to mention, when you clip the wings the parrot will be scared and will probably dislike you. Clipping wings won't help at all with training, trust me, he will just be scared of falling off your hand when he steps up. When he flies away, wait till he comes back and carry on. Good luck!
