Im in the process of purchasing a baby Blue and Gold Macaw and I have been visiting him often. He is eager to step up and let me pet him but he's always fascinated with my hand and my fingernails. He nips at my fingers, fingernails, and my arm that he is standing on and he bites hard sometimes; what should I do to make him not be so interested in biting me?
My parrot Cookied did that. He just grew out of this. The parrot is just curious and it is tasting fingers. Harder nips are usually done accidentally. After 10th, 100th or 1000th tasting parrot will realise what fingers are. And what they are for. You can also try hiding your thumb, so that bird can't get a nip on its favourite, sticking out finger
