Indian Ringneck HELP!

Postby Porkemon » Sun Dec 01, 2013 12:00 am

I just got a 4-5 months old Indian Ringneck yesterday, and so far it allowed me to pet it. (It was scared when it first got into the cage)
But the thing is, when I try to teach it how to step up on my finger, it kept flying away, I am worried that it might hurt its legs or wings :( (The wings have been clipped before we got it.) and it wants to bite my fingers. There was one time where it climbed up and bit my face ><

How can I make it stop flying away after perching on my finger for a few seconds and biting me? Should I leave it alone for a few more days before trying to teach it again? I am now trying the target training, it is okay but it kept biting the stick and not wanting to let go :( what should I do?

Hello
I have a small parrot n they seem more faster than my bigger ond so if I can suggest u, try this.bring it to smaler place, quite, n train him there.since there is no his cage ur the most familiar thing to him n this make ur progress easier. Dnt kill him by training him too long 5 min its enough.make him step up to ur finger dont worry it dsnt happen a day.my grey takes a week till he understand what it step up.dnt forget to close the toilet n sink or any watery surfaces. Time will answer ur work.my grey was wild caught when I got him from rescue n now he loves me.
Good luck.

I managed to tame him after I created this thread, but I have one more problem:
It always wants to climb on top of my head, how can I stop this?
