My Green Cheek is scared of leaving his cage

Hello bird lovers! I am a proud bird owner of 5 years now and a new member to this site! So I've had my beloved green cheeked conure , Nalu, for about 5 months now. (Hes about 8 months old) Hes the sweetest bird ever. He cuddles with me, lets me pet him, but whenever i try to get him to step on my hand so i can walk around with him he freaks out and runs away(but he doesnt bite). Now, I don't just want him to "Step Up"..i would really love it if HE WOULD be happy to accompany me around the house while I do my daily routine (sitting on my shoulder, on the couch etc). I hope this isn't too much to ask but how do i get him to not be afraid of going with me? (Also on the rare occasion that i do get him off his cage he always looks back at it like its his only safe zone) i want Nalu to feel comfortable in my house not just on his cage... any help would be much appreciated thx

hi iam having the same problem with my conure she use to come to me but now wont she gets scared and panicsif i step away from her cage so she flys back to it she will be 2 yrs old in march but have had her for 1 yr this is making me really sad i want my bird to love me so if u hear anythinglet me know please thank you leah
