Advice on socializing 3 Bonded Parrots

Postby mymartianheart » Fri Jan 10, 2014 2:32 am

Hi, so there is a local shop in my town that recently acquired 3 fourteen year old amazons that have bonded together (from a deceased acquaintance). He asks me for help on socializing them because they seem aggressive, solitary, and unhappy. I am the only one around who seems to have any experience with parrots. I do not think that they are "bonded", because he says they constantly fight and sometimes one of them steps on the others' neck when they try to eat. I think that is horrible... The only advice I had to give him was to separate them. It's also really hard to even approach them. Does anyone have any advice besides separating them that can help socialize them more? I think the owner is willing to take my advice. Also, I would like thoughts on this: I'm thinking of building 2 large play stands out of branches that they can stay on, because I don't know if the owner is willing to purchase 2 other cages. Has anyone had success on parrots that don't stay in their cages? Thanks guys! I really appreciate it!
