Great news! Toos are real smart and love, love, love positive reinforcement so although some behaviors need to be accepted by us (morning and evening calls, for example), most others can be re-directed. I am so very glad things are working out for you and him! Toos have a real bad reputation and, although most of it is deserved (the neediness and the loudness of their calls, for example), they are not as bad as most people think they are.

Flighted birds are much easier to live with.

I have dogs and cats as well as birds. With a very large plastic fly swat I am teaching my 5 dogs not to bark greetings when people they know come over. All I have to do is wave it in the air and they shut up. So far so good. Now I am working with my Amazons Rambo & Myrtle. Myrtle is learning but Rambo is stubborn.

LOL - So you have dogs but don't want them to do a dog's job? And what do you mean about 'working with the amazons"? You are not doing the 'large fly swat' thing with them, are you?

I've know the cockatoo for a year but just today he's started preening me. I know that's a good thing.so proud of him.
