Meyers' are great birds, but all babies are needy. Only you can judge your circumstances, so I for one, give you the benefit of the doubt.

I can't help you much with a pionus, but there are some lovely ones shown on this forum. Adult parrots are indeed "easier" than babies, except for the occasional abuse victim, so your comment about them taking less time could be right on target. Good luck to you both!

My dear, I don't mean to offend you and it's not that I think you are selfish but, going by your postings, it's either that you are self-centered or that you have not done any in-depth research or are even slightly aware of what it takes to be a good parrot keeper.

You 'long' for a larger parrot the way a young person longs for a baby? Not good.
You bought a baby on a whim and resold it in a matter of days? Not good.
You exchanged him for an older parrot because they are low maintenance and not needy? Not good.
You started target training a traumatized bird that you had for only one week? Not good.

I am sorry, I don't mean to be unkind but it seems to me that all decisions and reasons you've given in your quest to be 'understood' and 'not judged' by us have been all for your benefit: what you long for, what is less work for you, etc. And that does not bode well for the bird's future with you.
