When he/she is in season, he/she puts his butt in the air. His little rectum opens and closes while he does it. (Last year he presented it to Myrtle and she watched it for a while and then bit it.) We always have been suspicious about him. I tried to change his name to Rainbow but he got irate about it and demanded that it was RAMBO.
It doesn't make any difference to me but it would be nice to know. He talks in a low voice. Maybe he is trying to pass.

It seems that way to me too. 20+ years old and it has only been the last 5 years he has done this.

Myrtle is being snuggly too. She has not just been sitting on my shoulder. She is sticking her head under my chin and of all the time I have been trying she is not asking for head scritches. She rubs her cheek against mine. (I rescued her but she has given me so much love.) She used to rub her beak on my cheek but stopped it when she was able to fly. Now that she is right here beside my eye I can see how she makes her contented sound when she starts to get sleepy. She puts her tonge in the roof of her beak and clicks it.

She did it again in the same situation. When I picked up Rambo she bit me.
Any help you can give me to stop this action will be gratefully accepted.

I really do not wish to sound rude or condescending or any of those other things of that nature, but honestly, it seems to me that the quickest, simplest and probably the most effective thing to do to avoid getting bit is to set Myrtle down before picking Rambo up. After rereading this entire topic I think that the bite is for the purpose of having you to move away from Rambo as Myrtle has claimed you and does not want to share you with Rambo. This is a normal behavior.

Sometimes, I wonder why no one has invented an effective muzzle for parrots ! A LOL or HA HA is good enough of a response for that as it was my humor striking again.

Yeah, I know that you know that, but sometimes it is all that there is that is practical to do. I really don't see that there would be anything more effective than to offer Myrtle a small treat and put her down while you attend to Rambo. Maybe my brain is on vacation or something, but I really can't think of any better solution to this, at least at this time. Maybe I will have to break out the old crystal ball and see if I can get it working again. HaHa.

I agree. If you have identified a problem, simply avoid it. If you know that Rambo or Myrtle will bite you if you try to pick one up while holding the other, don't do it. Now, I know that sometimes, we forget, misread or underestimate a situation but it's always our fault -and, if it's any consolation, read my posting 'A hole in the head' (I am going to write it now) and you will see that you are not the only one who has these lapses...

My little puncture is nothing compared to your attack. The only time Rambo bit me was when he was protecting me from a man who got too close. He couldn't reach the man so he nipped my ear lobe.

Well I wrote a long post then lost it.

Short explanation: It is that time again and Myrtle is not as sweet as she was last year. I went to bed bloody from Myrtles jelous bites. I re read the whole post and got nothing. She is so aggressive that I am thinking of drastic measure. As Wolf said last year "they don't make parrot muzzles". GOD help me I am considering a wing trim to induce a little fear and settle her down.

Someone please come up with a solution. She bit both hands, my cheek and the worst was the cartilage in my right ear. She is so good at flying that she can swoop me and bite before I can defend myself. She needs to be taken down a notch and all I can think of is to trim her and let her feel some fear.
