This is what is called beaking. Basically it is a natural part of him growing up and it is akin to a puppy gnawing or a baby teething. He is testing the object being beaked .for hardness, texture, strength as well as taste, he is trying to figure out what it is. At some point he will begin to put too much pressure and it will for all practical purposes fell like a bite although he is trying to learn how much pressure he can use on this object so when it happens just calmly and firmly say gentle or something similar and move your finger or push his beak aside gently. You are not trying to stop him from beaking you only want him to not hurt you in the process.
