Thanks a lot again Wolf, and to you too Liz. I've used the last day to read though several of the posts in the taming and training post.

I made him some gloop with mashed apple, pear, grains and greens. After watching me try some, he started eating it quite well! He has also started to explore some of his toys after watching me play with them.

So liz, you mean i should just open the cage and let him do his thing? I am fairly sure he can fly, but i am so afraid he will somehow hurt himself. I made him a perch that is eye level high. I've had it all the way up to the cage, and tricked him on it with treats. I feel i should learn him how to step up before unleashing him on the room?

Again, thank you all so much for helping me out. The breeder was less than helpful.

 Yes, I bet he/she was not helpful at all, especially taking into consideration he/she did not even bother to have the babies imprint to people and he/she is still selling them as companions to humans - Sheesh!

If I were you, I would forget about training and super concentrate on bonding with the bird because while allowing parents to feed the babies without any human intervention is GREAT for the bird, it also means it will never regard you (or any other human) as part of his family so you will have to work extra hard in creating a bond because, in your case, it will be a 'learned' bond as there was no imprinting.

Yes, close the door and let the bird out and see what he does. I doubt he will crash and hurt himself (he is not clipped, right?). Birds always step up when they are on the floor so don't worry about that.

Yeah, he gave me 2kg's of bird seed mix and told me to give him that. When i asked him about taming, he said, and i quote "Give it a week and he will be tame".

Anyways, I am now working with trying to bond with him. I am sitting by the cage, and he comes running over, all the way up to the bars. He sits there, floofing up while i talk, and blinking slowly at me while making clicking sounds with his beak. I understand this as a good sign yes?

It seems he discovered his beak yesterday. While reaching to gently touch him, he tried biting me. I've also given him some Pomegranate, which seems to be just the best thing ever :D

I am currently cooking gloop for him in the kitchen, following your recipe Pajarita :)

I will try letting him out on his own premises today, and report back on how it goes!

Thanks for encouraging me to let him out! I sat in the couch, and after a few minutes on the cage door, he came flying over.

Still a little wobbly in-flight, he flew into the walls a few times and landed behind the coffee maker. Calmed down after a little while though.

Here he is on the table, getting a little treat for flying over to me.

He was -extremely- loud this morning. He screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed. It was exhausting.

He was calling for you, so at least answer him, you were probably where he could not see you and wanted to reassure himself that you were ok and to know that you were there. I usually answer them with a whistle which they pick up on fairly quickly and then they will whistle for you instead of screaming for you.
If you just open the cage and place your hand at the entrance he will most likely just climb right onto your finger or hand. He will probably reach for you with his beak first but this is normal behavior, try to trust him and look at his beak as a hand because he uses in much the same way.

I was sitting in the living room with him. I suspect he wasn't too pleased with his new food.

You need to mix a bit of seeds in it at the beginning because they eat what they 'learn' to recognize as food so putting the seeds there does that for them.

I had him out again yesterday. Went well until something spooked him. Took a couple of laps in the apartment before crashing into the wall and falling down behind my computer. I had to grab him and bring him back to the cage.

He did not like to be grabbed.... at all. I got some nice bloody hands to show for it hehe. It's sad that that had to happen. I feel i've lost a few of my trust points with him, as he now seems uneasy and scared whenever i approach his cage.

Luckily, he does not seem to have taken any physical damage from it, thank god!

I am sure that this is just temporary and all will be fine again shortly, however for future reference try to give him the option of stepping up when he gets himself in such a bind instead of going for the grab. I realize that you were just trying to help him but grabbing a scared bird almost always ends up with a bite or two and most of them know that they need help and will step up if they can.

I understand you Wolf. He was unfortunately only making the problem worse trying to get out on his own. There is a lot of cables behind my computer. He also seemed to freak out more when i offered my hand. I was afraid he'd bite one of the cables and shock himself, so i saw no other option.

Any suggestions on how to proceed? I shared a mango with him today through the bars which he also seemed to enjoy a great deal.
