Accidentally scared my parrat

Postby Wildcat_16_2008 » Mon Jun 15, 2015 5:18 pm

Hi,
I have a senegal parrot he is almost 2 years old. I accidentally scared him by dropping his cage with him in it moving him. Now I cannot get any where near him, he tries to flap away. I'm wondering if there is any way to teach him or show him that I am not going to hurt him.

Let him out of the cage. He is trapped in a cage that you dropped.
I scared Myrtle so bad one time that she did not speak to me for 10 days.

I haven't kept him in the cage at all. He sits on top of it

Oh. Are his wings clipped is the reason he did not fly before it hit the floor?

He was in his cage when I dropped it because I am house sitting so I was transporting him, I never leave him in his cage though, so I let him out right away. He sits on top of his cage right now but I cannot cone near him or he tries to flap away, his wings are clipped too though. It's only been 2 days since this happened, I'm am just scared I permanently scared him from me because his previous owner gave him to me for the same reason, she scared him and she kept him for months and he never came back around and got to the point of hurting himself to get away. I love this bird to death though so I'm hoping there is a way to fix whatever needs to be fixed for him to trust me again.

Loving him to death is a bit extreme, let him live, he will be much more fun that way.
As for your problem, spend a lot of time as close to him as he will allow and talk, and sing to him and praise him a lot also offer a treat every now and again while you are doing this, but do not try to touch him, wait and let him come to you. He will forgive you in time if you do this.
