Help me with my grey

Grays are naturally high-strung birds and, when they have been traumatized, it takes years (and I am not exaggerating here) for them to overcome it. It once took me 3 months for a gray to move a step (one single step!) closer to the food and water bowls so she could eat and drink. Her cage door was always open but she also would not come out for months and months. It took 2 years for her to start moving around the birdroom. Patience is all it takes - but been this patient is easier said than done, isn't it?

Yes, they are VERY high maintenance and we can easily become obsessed with them but one thing I've learned with parrots is that our timetables are rubbish to them and that, in the long term, it pays to take it easy, not worry too much and allow time to do its magic.
