How to teach a green cheek conure to step up?

Chantilly is right. I give praise instead of treats. I put my hand palm down and my finger touching the feet and say step up. If it does not work try again later. For birds "step up" is not a command. It is a suggestion.

For now if i were you id just continue getting his trust and wait for him to come to you, wich eventually when he is ready he will. I also missed that you had also had him for only 3days as i was in a rush as i had to go outside.
But just continue talking and singing to her/him. Vocalising with them is a great way to gain trust. Just keep working with him, but dont push him and let him choose when his ready for the next step.

Yeah, i actually got him to voluntarily set up onto a perch no encouraging or anything he just waddled right over to it and got on! Comets a brave little buddy anyways thanks for the help i appreciate it a lot!
