Lovebird mutation question

Postby Archer96 » Sun Jan 24, 2016 7:54 pm

Hello, I'm trying to find out if a peach faced lovebirds mutation affects how tame they are. I know that probably sounds crazy but by personal experience I noticed that My normal green male lovebird was a lot more tame then my Blue pied lovebird male. And by tame I mean cuddly( like loves to be held and rubbed). My blue wanted nothing to do with that both were hand fed. And to top that off I googled cuddly lovebirds and found pictures and YouTube videos of almost all normal green lovebirds and yellow ones with red faces. One of the pics was a blue one. So it seems to me the original mutation wins in being tame and cuddly, but what are your opinions and personal experiences? :swaying:

I've had regular peachface, lutinos, cherryface, orangeface, whiteface, longfeathers, Australian cinnamons, Dutch blue, seafoam, violet, pied... you name it, I've had it. I've also had Fischers and Blackcheeked as well as crosses of them and, in my personal opinion, the 'tameness' depends on the gender, the husbandry and the individual personality of the bird. I never really noticed anything else...

Maybe the peachface was handed more by the breeder, between feedings, as a hatchling/chick ? I read that it makes a big difference if you handle them a lot, between feedings and not jut handfeeding while they are babies .
