Caique stubbornness

Postby Zorro_the_bhc_2015 » Wed Jul 25, 2018 12:47 pm

Zorro is a very stubborn caique. He will be 3 tomorrow. Few months ago he decided he wants nothing to do with me. And runs away if I get near. Which makes things complicated as I am the care giver. My roommates help me put caging him at play time or bed time but there not always around. I try be ot treat giver not helped much. Finally I tried target training seemed to help. As we finally got him to start stepping up a bit again. Been chopping nuts into small bits 4 treats. Have him shake or turn. But typically if I asked him step up he run away. He finally with target training started stepping up some. Tho still running away if I try and touch. I've had like 20 people tell me to clip him because hes just playing me. Which I think he is bit I cant clip him, gives me nightmares just thinking about it. Or to cage him till he stepped up. That only made it worse. So hopefully one day he will let me play with him again.
