Standardized Vocabulary

Postby LiaraTivona » Fri Jun 11, 2010 6:50 pm

Hi everyone,

I was wondering, is there any standardized vocabulary for bird training like there is for Guiding Eyes dog training?

Obviously we have "step-up" that seems to be pretty consistent (although originally I wanted her to speak Hebrew so I was using a Hebrew variant. Poor bird.)

I've made a list of consistent phrases to use and posted them with drawings by her cage, but we still aren't consistent, especially with things like saying good morning and good night (though not essential).

I figured if I am going to try to be consistent, I want phrases that are easily differentiated (step-up, leave it, down, kisses), probably consisting of a few stops like T and D for bird pronunciation, and not to many syllables, although it sounds like some people on here have phrases as long as "Go to the perch in your cage."
