Senegal training?

Postby spike844523 » Tue Dec 01, 2009 12:52 pm

Hello, I recently got a 10yo Senegal parrot. I believe he has been is his cage most of his life so he is not hand tame at all. I was wondering if anyone knew what a good why to train him to come out of his cage with out screaming and trying to bite. When we open the door he just climbs to the back of his cage and sits there and if you try and grab him he falls and it looks like it is very painful for him. any suggestions?? and what about treats? :senegal:

Hi Spike:

I just wanted to add, Good for you that you took on an older Senegal that has issues!

Time and patience are your best allies.

Thanks!
