I have several, but they are all at the barn. So far, I haven't been motivated to try to use a clicker with the birds.

I do, I tried it for a while with Akila but, as with my dog, I just couldn't keep up with it and be reliable with my timing. I find them a bit tiresome, I'm much better with a verbal marker.

Can't live without mine :) really does wonders, and once you understand that you can solve almost any behavior problem with a clicker as well as training its just such a great tool.

I've been owned by and training my GCC for about 5 months now. I've purchased lots of educational toys and taught several prop-less tricks. I've noticed that the Clicker does speed up his acquisition of new trick-behavior. I'm not sure where on the forum to stick the rest of this; hope you don't mind my placing it here too. Enkidu isn't alway 100 percent on his colors, or shapes but he enjoys all his educational toys. He's also learned to somersault, turn-around, wave, shake/High-4, kiss-on-the-nose, go-potty on command on his perch, come-here (recall indoor flight), go-there, stay/don't land on me , go-home/back in cage, and bath. His favorite toy is the Fisher Price Rock and Stack, with the Keychain removed, which is the perfect size for him. Here are a couple of pictures. :gcc: ;)

Own one and use it. Birds are responding much quicker to training and become more comfortable with newer places much faster. They're tolerating each other more although they still have their moments  can't live without it

I decided to give the clicker another try, as our harness training has been moving at a snail's pace. My problem with clickers in the past has always been feeling clumsy with them, and having poor timing with clicks. I mentioned this to the Petsmart clerk, and she was actually very helpful, and showed me an "ergonomic" clicker which is very easy to hold and click. To click you press a button, and it is small and moulded to fit nicely in your hand. I started working with Akila as soon as I got home, and in one session with this new clicker I have him willingly poking his head through the large loop in the harness while I hold it open. Previously, he would only approach the harness if I wasn't holding it and would go no further than sticking his beak through. I guess you can say, now I'm a believer! lol  Now hopefully I can have him outside before the end of summer!

well i havent had time to buy one but i still want to train my cockatiel, so i just use a stapler (empty of course)! sounds pretty weird, but it makes a clicking noise and helps my cockatiel to learn target training. i first used the stapler today and find it extremely good, however, i would really like a clicker as it is probably better and hell learn easier.

I have many and use them. I got into clicker training with my horse years ago and when I got my first dog it was just natural to start using it with her. I tried not using a clicker for training and then tried the clicker and she learned tricks and behaviours (such as obedience, directional commands, and agility) so much faster with the clicker. She loved clicker training so much she would come running whenever she heard me pick it up (it had a coil strap that made a unique noise against the plastic of the clicker when I picked it up).

After the great success with my dogs I started clicker training with my parrot as soon as I got him. I only use it for tricks and flight recall and it really works well for both of my birds.
