hello i am new to the forum. i just bought a Parakeet and its only supposed to be like six months old and its mean i like hold and spending time with birds but i dont like to be bit so is there any suggestions on how i can get him\her to stop biting me? i would really like the help he trys to bite when i try and hold him, pick him up , just trying to touch him in general ... i heard sometimes you cant train them is that true ? how long should it take for me to be able to hold him with out a problem ? i dont know the sex yet , :budgie:

Your parakeet isn't mean, it just doesn't know any better. Here's a step by step training guide for taming it and teaching it to step up. As the bird learns to trust you more (by doing these kinds of things), it will have less desire to bite you.
