Clicker training is going well w/Aaron, w/the exception of one thing: he appears to prefer doing "turn around" on a perch. If I ask him to perform this trick on the table, he'll fly to one of his perches to perform the trick instead of doing it right there on the table. I've tried to distract him from this by getting him to perform a string of tricks quickly one after the other, & then throwing "turn around" in the mix (hoping he won't have time to think about going elsewhere for this one trick), but I've only had limited success w/this ploy. Initially he learned "target" and "turn around" on his perch, but he'll now "target" anywhere. However, that's not the case w/"turn around". Have I inadvertently done something during training to make him think he should perform this trick mainly on a perch? Or does it have something to do w/being more difficult to perform on a flat surface, so he prefers a perch?
