Throwing things

Postby nagelsan » Sat Jul 23, 2011 3:59 pm

Hello again.
Just posted a large peace for help with my cockatoo screaming.
Now i want to train with him aswell.
I tried some things already, he does a lot for a treat, but i keep getting two problems.
One: he is really scared of everything he doesn't know.
I try making him eventually tough strange things with his beak, wich is going allright most of the time.
He wont go any further than that though.
Anybody has any tips how to continue?
Then, the things he does pick up, for a puzzle or anything like that, he trows away and makes a game out of that.
How can i turn this around?
He really throws it to the other side of the room and does hit with everything i give him.
So i can not reward him for letting something drop straight down or maybee give it to me.
So, tips on this part are very welcome aswell.

I'd love to interact with him more, right now i repeat the things he already knows and reward him for this.
I just haven't found things that interest him, so i would like to puzzle or something like that, but he pretends to be stupid, witch he is not ofcourse.
Maybee somebody has any experience with cockatoos?

Ok thank you again

Don't pick up the things he throws. Make him go get them.
