Just wanted to give an update on Stitch as we've had him for nearly a month now:
Step up works like a charm, so does flight recall. He nearly always flies to me when I call him.
He is fine with me touching his wings, I can hold them for as long as I want, he knows he will get his treat (I reckon this will be very good for the flight harness training). I did start harness training but we ran into some problems, at first it was fine and he was super nice and we got it on, on the first try, but the next time we had problems. We are working VERY VERY slowly now, and have gotten to the point were he will put his head through the small hole in the harness almost by himself (thanks Michael for your videos with Kili).
He's really gotten a hang of target training as well, which Ive used a little for the harness training.
We had a few problems with Stitch starting to bite my fiancée when she asked him to stepup, but she is doing more training now and it isnt much of a problem atm.
What worries me now is that his claws has become very long, to the point that the tip of the toe doesnt touch a flat surface when he is standing on it. I will of course clip them, but I am nervous about this! Ive tried to read up as much as possible, but theory and practice is to different things.
I have also realised that the perches that I collected from the forest were to small in diameter and thats probably, along with that he is eating pellets for staple diet now, what has made his claws grow. We've got alot bigger perches now!
Anyway back to clipping, has anyone got any practical tips? Stitch is fine with being on his back for a while, but he doesnt really care for a towel.
Sorry for the long post ^^.
Hello from Stitch (and Ragnar the axolotl)!
