Came across "Target Training" on TrainedParrot.com! Help!!!

http://trainedparrot.com/Taming/

So I came across target training on the website above ^^^ , but I have no target sticks at all. I don't have anything to use as a target. I have thought about using a pen/pencil but my budgie will get sick biting the led/ink. I also thought about using a chop stick but there is none.

I really want to use a target stick to train and tame my budgie. The target stick at a pet store are all for dogs and cats. Regular sticks outside are too big or too dirty.

Is target sticks a big thing to have while taming & basic training a budgie? Where can I get a target stick?

Thank You :)

You can just go out to eat at a chinese restaurant or another that might have chopsticks. I actually just walked into a chinese restaurant and asked if I could have some chopsticks and they gave me some. Very easy

Actually pencils are made with graphite not lead, but I wouldn't recommend a pencil or pen anyway.

If you cannot find a chopstick, you could probably use something else. A long thin stick is a convenient object for target training because you're able to "point" to a location for the bird to get to and there is some distance between where your fingers are holding the stick and where the bird is trying to bite the other end of it. You could probably use another object. Maybe a thin perch or a piece of a bird toy. I don't know really.

What about going outside and looking at your garden? Is there a bird-safe plant, bush, tree there? Could you break a small, thin, branch off that and use it?

You could use a (unused) stirring rod made out of plastic in case you go to a cafe or something.

Thanks guys soooo much.

I actully found like 50 small sticks at walmart for like $3 - $4. So I actully be using those as targets instead of chopsticks.

But thanks for your great ideas too. Really help.
