I have been having 2 issues with my quaker. One, is he really likes perching on my glasses while I'm wearing them. It seems to be his favorite hang-out. I try to get him to stay on my finger or my shoulder, but his intent every time is to get to my glasses during which he sometimes scratches up my face with his nails when trying to grab them. I need them to see, so removing them from my face isn't much of an option. The other problem I'm having is he keeps biting my earring. I have a cartilege piercing that is still healing so I cannot remove that either. My bird sees the shiney silver and wants to bite it. When he bites it, it hurts and he just hangs on and tries to yank it out. I try to keep him away from that side of my face, but he'll just climb over my head or around the back of my neck to get it. My response to both of these things has been to yell "Ow" and shake my head until he releases. This seems like it just makes him more determined and interested in my glasses and jewelry. How do I deter him from these behaviors? I would like him to not climb on my head and face and just sit on my shoulder. Btw, treats don't work with this bird. He refuses to eat anything outside of his cage and will just spit treats out onto the floor. Help?
