First Time taking out of cage.

Postby kiwitheparakeet » Sun Nov 27, 2011 4:23 pm

Hey guys, I haven't been on this website for a while, LOL  , Kiwi is doing just fine, although he's been wanting to get out of his cage for a long time. I want to take him out sometime today. Does anybody know how the best method is?.

Kiwi is a nice loving budgie, but he is shy sometimes, and will back away from my finger most of the time. He still eats millet from my hand, and doesn't start flying around his cage when I turn the light on or open the door. Like I said, I want to take him out today. What is the best method? :budgie:

If he wants out - open the cage and put your finger at the door.

I think he is just a little bit unsure around me, but we just had a taming session. He will let me rub his feet while he is on the perch, but when I put my finger up against his chest and say up, he flies off around the cage. I can SOMEtimes get him on my finger, but not always

Say "tickle tickle" when you touch his feet. He will learn the word and that it is safe. You can gradually go to his chest then under his wings. You have tosay it the whole time you are tickling.

He is starting to learn the word. I still think he wont come up on my finger. I decided I will let him out sometime Friday, while i get some more info off the forum and google.
