Ako training himself? (+ quick update)

Postby Kath » Wed Dec 14, 2011 1:40 pm

So in the beginning I was actually thinking that I can't make it - I am NOT able to tame my parrot, he's a difficult one. But now? Biting stopped almost completly, and I must say a great thanks to Iwis for that cos she posted a "Beaky birdy" topic which helped me a lot ^_^

The only biting I'm getting now is when Ako sits on my shoulder and nip my ear very gently (it tickles so much :D). When I try to touch him he doesn't bite - only opens his beak like saying "don't do that or I bite". So I think it's a major progres (Ako is with us for a bit over 3 months now and I've never owned a parrot before)

Now about training: I don't know how he figured it out but he just stopped pooping on me or even on my laptop. He does on a newspaper ;) I didn't try to train him, I was like "1 thing at a time, he's not realy tame yet" and look, what a surprise! Maybe he noticed that everytime he pooped on me or a laptop I was cleaning it and I was a bit angry on him, I don't know - but Ako is a realy smart young Lovebird :swaying:

Kisses,
Kath and Ako
