So maybe it's the cage - is too small.
And the other thing I was thinking about is that jour parrot is from a pet shop, right?
So no wonder he's scared of people and panicking. Imagine all those loud kids, and not only kids, putting fingers between cage bars and knocking and stuff in front of scared bunch of birds. And the owner of the shop didn't seem to be taking good care of the animals as well...
I live in a studio with a big window with no glass between room and kitchen so I cannot have Ako flying around when I'm gone. But he has his toys (and I bought him new ones for Xmas ;P) and he's not bored.
I cannot say do this or do that but I would try to give jojo maybe one more week in his cage, spend some more time close to cage and maybe he would be jumping on the wall of the cage that is closer to me to greet me when I come near (that's what Ako does when he's not busy playing with his toys). And when I open the cage I would put my arm like 15-20cm away from cage door and try to call my bird. (Gee, I used a word "cage" so many times, sorry). Just check his reaction. It's just my advice - but you know better your bird, how tame he is and stuff. I got Ako from a friend who has a pair of lovebirds, my bird never got to be in a pet shop so I guess it was easier for him to get used to people.
PS. Thanks for trusting me / us
