I really don't know what it means. Myrtle is never caged. Sometimes she will do that as if she got a burst of energy and has to burn it off.

I'm not a bird psychologist (or something like that) but Ako is doing the same for a looong time. Like he wants to fly but is holding a perch. For me it seems like he's just streching his whole body. Since his behaviour hasn't changed (I mean like bad mood, doesn't want to fly and stuff) and he's eating normally and do everything he usually does I don't think there is a reason to worry. I say he's just doing exercises: streching muscles he doesn't strech during flying :)

Hmmmm... About noise aaaaaaaaa I don't know. Ako is doing many weird and funny noises. I think it's because they're parrots - parrots are great in doing lots of different noises even if they will never be able to speak. Once jojo will find out he can do new "sqweak" he will keep doing it. At least that's what I can tell by observing Ako. But that's just my speculations, nothing more.
And with getting puffy... Have you ever bathed jojo? Because when Ako wants a bath he stands in front of me and puffs all his feathers (so funny!!! ) Ako likes berely warm water (just saying, every parrot has a different taste).
Or, thinking "humanly", maybe puffing feathers is similar to us when we want to relax, make our muscles loose (sorry, don't know how to write it properly) and then shake whole body. Do you ever have like that? I do sometimes.
I think jojo's behaviour means that he feels more and more comfortable in your company. I don't think there's anything to worry about :)

Bye now and don't worry

Postby Polarn » Fri Jan 13, 2012 5:30 pm

seeing polarn isnt really tame yet and I can't really walk him across the house to the bathroom i use a spraybottle, like the ones you use for showers, I've found out polarn likes it when i turn the nossle a little bit off the fullmist thingie, so it is still kind of mist just a little higher pressure. And to be honest, I've never really thought about how to dry him the times he gets really wet, It isnt cold in here and i dont spray him with cold water and he dries up pretty quick even when basicly soaked. So I'd just see if he likes the water from a spraybottle when he is ontop of the cage or in it or wherever, as long as the excess water lands on the floor you can always mop it up, just watch wallpapers etc :)

You can always put a bowl with water near his gym ;P And for drying him, I never dried Ako, he dries himself on his own and does is very quick to be honest :)
And I also don't like Ako to walk on the floor, I'm too scared that I could step on him (lovebird are small as u know). He doesn't like the floor anyways ;p

Good luck

kath, polarn thx for the reply :)
i tried to put big bowel for him today but he didnt come, guess he dsnt fit inside it specially his tail.
after that i tried to bring my shower like what polarn said,n he attack it.i dont know what i have to do.
should i keep misting him but make him completly wet?is it necessary to make bird really wet every time they shower?
he scratch his body often, thats why im worried.
oh ya anybody know how bird ticks look like?i found something like a bug around his cage, only one bug.what the best i can do? :( should i got to vet fastly??

Our Monti is a loud bird. He screams when he hears somebody in the house. We have wooden foor, and when you move upstairs, he can hear. Than it used to start. I always said from upstairs " Monti Ruhe" which means " Monti silence!". What he does now, he says " Silence" and the 3 other two. As soon as one of them is getting louder the others call " Silence". My answer ist always "GOOOOD, Birds!". For a while it was nerv killing, but now - they learned.

It works fine here. They still have their loud periods, but nothing compared to what it was. When I go past the aviary, and they are loud, I do not even look at them. When they talk and or are quiet,
than I speak to them, give them a reward. It takes time, but it works. If you would always go to them and talk, than the birds think " Oh great, I must scream, be loud, and somebody will turn up" I would not do it. ;)
