Hi,

I believe it is rather a matter of building trust. When your bird has trust in you, he will of cause love you. See it as a good start! Nothing to worry about!

I still can't really touch my grey, but I can touch his beak and leg, or rather let him touch me. I started using a really thick motorcycle leather glove without wearing it, just the glove, he bit it real hard at the beginning, then after he accepted the glove as target stick, I trained Spencer to just use the beak to touch the glove, it took a few days. Then I start over, but this time I wear the glove half way (so if he bites, it won't get my finger), Spencer started bitting again, but not as hard as before, and slowly, he stopped bitting, and let me touch his beak wearing the glove. When I am 100% confident with glove, I started using my bare hand, be ready that the bird will change his mind while approaching your hand and bite at the beginning, or sometimes the bird would just ignore the hand. Just alternate wearing glove and bare hand until he gets the idea and gain more confident. Remember to praise your bird really really excitedly when he touch your hand.

It took me about a week of work, and suddenly one afternoon, when I come home, i just put my hand inside the cage say "touch beak", Spencer just did it. No glove, no hesitation. But be careful though, they might bite once in awhile at the beginning, at least mine did, twice at the first week.

hi everybody, thanks for the replies. :)
actually before i tried to touch him with leather gloves, but seems he really likes to chew leather or fabric i stop doing it.instead of he touch it nicely, he see the gloves as a chewing toy.as fast as i approach the gloves he take it n play with it. :(
am i did a mistake??i know some bird they dont like to be touch at all,but i still have hope maybe jojo will change his mind about it.its 2 weeks already i try to touch him n day by day the bite getting more hard..

Did you try as soon as he touches the glove, retreat and click then reward him?

i tried everywhere, when he's inside the cage through the bar/i opened the door n try, when he's sitting on the perch, when he's around the playgym.
the funny thing, when he is eating something he never bite.i asked some people they used this theory:touch-treat-touch-treat. which me, i have to do this:treat-touch-treat-touch.is it normal? i want to make him understand when he accept my touch without biting,he can get treat.not the way that ''give me treat first,n then u can do whatever u want from me''
what i have to do macbrush?? :(

Sorry, I am not very experienced with birds. But with dogs, in the same case, I would keep trying to find a way for him to touch but hard to take a bite, maybe something like tied the dog to something, so that it is just enough for him to touch with his noise but can't reach to bite. With a bird, maybe some theory? Do you use a clicker? I guess with a clicker, it would be a bit easier, at least you can relate the exact moment when he's done it right when that happens.

Sorry again, can't be a lot of help.

Nikii, this is a problem you don't really see. Alexandrines don't like to be touched as a species. They are NOT a cuddly species. Even a tame Alexandrine will barely allow a pet every once in a while. I think you need to know this that it's not really your fault, and try not to push him :)
