Target Training with a pair of lovebirds

Postby vitna » Sat Jan 21, 2012 4:55 am

Hello, first of all compliments for your site that lets you know all the secrets of domestication parrots without having to pay big money as in other sites or buy books. I have a pair of lovebird not hand-feeded. Obviously when I get them out of the cage fly away from me because they are afraid. I'm trying to use the target training. The female is aggressive, not even accept food from the hands, the male rather welcomes the food from the hands. With the male in a few days I was able to get the behavior: When I put the target in a point of cage (for the moment only at the bottom, when I put the stick high seems to be scared). The problem is when I have to give the reward: The female tries to bite me and the male.
My questions are:
-Do you think it is possible to train birds in pairs?
-How can I prevent the female attacked me during the training?
-Solutions to touch the stick even when I put it up?
Thank you very much.
