My :gcc: always flies to my head. I don't know why it's like she always has to be at the highest point of a person, ? Any help, ?

Ollie used to prefer to land on mine too. I think the key is to provide more incentive to land elsewhere. First thing to do is decide where you prefer her to land then give her extra incentives to land there. When she does land there reward her and give her lots of praise. When she lands on your head get her to step up immediately and put her where ever you prefer her to land. It may take a while but she should get the message eventually, if not you can try removing her from you altogether if she lands on your head so she learns that she only gets to spend time with you if she lands elsewhere on you. I found green cheeks learn very quickly what gets them attention and what doesn't.
Ollie still likes to land on my head and I don't mind too much because he will step up as soon as I put my hand up now without me having to ask whereas before he would land then expect to hang out up there for a while (which is the bit I really didn't like) and refuse to step up. Landing on my head part is alot less of an issue for me now he has learned he can't stay there, I can tolerate it although I still try to encourage him to land elsewhere.

And here I thought it was only my GCC that preferred to land on my head. How funny to find out that it seems to be a GCC thing.

When my GCC lands on my head he will step-up onto my hand immediately with no problem but it started driving me nuts that he was landing on my head all the time because sometimes his claws would get caught in my hair so I decided to teach him to land on my hand, instead.

My experience is the same as Marie's: GCCs learn very quickly what gets them attention and what doesn't. I used clicker training to teach him to land on my hand, and it only took one day for him to learn (I think I did three separate ten-minute sessions). He already knew how to target a stick so I just started by putting him on a perch and targeting him to step-up onto my hand. Then I increased the distance slightly so he had to hop to my hand. I increased it slightly more so he had to fly to my hand to reach the target.

By the end of the day he was flying 20 feet across the room and landing on my hand every time. I practice with him every day and while he still lands on my head occasionally, he'll fly to my hand instead 95% of the time.

Stitch used to land on my head as well, but its very rare nowadays. I just give him a better place to land by extending my hand as for a flightrecall. When he did land on my head I just shook it, making it a bad place to land!
