Please help-Black Capped Conure

I've had Sammy for a couple of months. I think he/her is under 1 year old. I feed him/her the right foods and take great strides to make sure that I'm not using insecticides, bleach, heated teflon, etc... and feeding organic fruits and veggies along with pellets.I'm a good pet owner. I'm frustrated because I can't have him/her out of the cage without being on my hand and biting the sides of my fingernails. I own Barbara Heidenrich's videos and understand the benefits of positive reinforment. However, Sammy is not clipped so it's hard, when he's being naughty, to simply "put him in his cage for a time out." It's just disappointing because maybe it just hates me?? When he bites and I say no, he bobs his head up and down like he's frustrated. I even saw some food like he was regergitating. I am taking Sammy to our first vet appt in a couple weeks. I'll ask her too, but what am I doing wrong here? 90 percent of "out of cage" time Sammy is unpleasant.

Hi I believe there is a stage they go through my caiques did this .[similar age] Theres alot of different training methods to try [as you said].I got my caiques out of the cage and put them on a playstand with a few treats. Let them be there until they were looking to get off.Then I went over to see if the wanted to go with me [they did ] I made a HUGE BIG deal when they were being gentle.Started with a short time out with me and increased it.I have alot of birds a schedule works for me.
