I have just adopted a 7mth old sulphur-crested cockatoo
who we've named Goob. Unlike my cheeky lorikeet, this cocky has had very little contact and I adopted him essentially to give him a chance before he became to old and no one would give him the time of day.
I am just unsure where to start with him. I have him in my room and am spending a significant amount of time just being around him, chatting to him or working on my bed. He is, understandably, very frightened, but only significantly if there is a loud noise or fast movements.
He needs his confidence built and he needs to learn that I am not here to hurt him.
If anyone could please please give me some ideas as to how to go about taming him, that would be fantastic. Thank you!!

when she was 7 yrs old last year.i'm not really sure what your trying to ask but i can try to help. have you let him out? when i got mine home i just left the door open and she came to me.she did not like hands so i just laid mine out and let her play with them.she would hop on and bend my fingers and taste them.sounds like your of to a good start anyway just sitting and chatting not forcing yourself on him.
