Learning to Be Alone

Postby NuttyBird » Wed Jul 18, 2012 4:49 pm

Okay, for some reason whenever I walk away, or there is nobody in the same room as him, my tiel' goes nuts. He will chirp and pace back and forth near the door of the cage until someone picks him up. Once hes on your shoulder, he is relaxed and normal. However, I'm a sucker for seeing an animal want love, so I have to pick him up . This isn't good if I goto work though. Is there a way to train him to be relaxed in his cage alone?

Apparently my Senegal screams when I'm not in the house so now I leave some classical music on for her during the day (on low), and apparently no more screaming. She is a huge chatter-box and chirps during the day but no screams.

Also giving attention when your bird demands it is definitely going to cause your bird to learn to be loud.

YES! Stop picking him up when he's doing this! You're making it worse for him by giving in and rewarding it.

Yup agree with the others, you are training him to be loud.

Ignore his screams, give him plenty to do in his cage etc
