So, the last few days I've spent with a chopstick, a clicker and some sunflower seeds sitting by his cage and teaching him to follow the stick around and rewarding him when he touches the stick with his beak. He picked this up really quickly and didn't even mind me hand feeding him the seeds (normally he would be more interested in attacking my fingers!), and he's got touch training inside his cage down to a T now!
But when do I take it to the next stage, ie teaching him step up with the target touch technique? Right now, the second I put my hand near him, he will attack me and when he's out of his cage, he is not interested at all in the chopstick, it only works inside his cage.
He knows exactly what to do in his cage - just outside he loses all focus and attacks me again
