However, there is something I'm concerned about. He has taken to chewing the bars of his cage. He goes to the bottom of the cage, under his water dish in the corner and chews at the bars incessantly. Has he become attached to me too soon? Have I coddled him too much? I am making sure to give him ample cage time as to not get him used to being out 24/7... But I'm wondering if I made a mistake somewhere along the way. I don't feel like him chewing the bars is a good thing, I don't want him hurting himself or something.
I'm not reinforcing the behaviour by letting him out when he chews, and I'm trying not to give him any attention while he's doing it... But is there more I can do? How can I discourage this behaviour?
