Postby hnakhi » Fri Aug 03, 2012 8:35 pm

Hi, this is my first time owning a parrot.
I bought a 4-6 months old male eclectus and he afraid of me (he bites when someone tries to touch him) but he eats from someone's hand.

it's been around 5 days and i thought he'll just adjust be he isn't.

how do i tame him ?
Please help me, as i said, this is my first time.
thanks

I'm guessing most of the information posted on the forum about taking can be used for most birds, however do not be discouraged by 5 days passing without him being tame. I'd say set up a 1 year goal.
Example;
My August next year I want my bird to:
Step up
Wave
Turn around

Then if things happen quicker be happy about it and set a goal one year ahead ago, but I think it is better to set a long term goal and be happy by its success rather than setting up a weekly goal and be discouraged.

You would be afraid too if a big hand came after you.

My method is saying "tickle tickle" and wiggling one finger reach upwards to touch his feet.
