okay I know what I must do before bringing a second bird into my birds cage. but im worried about the training. My budgie sky is tame but I would like to do some more trick trainig with her before introducing another bird. Im just wondering, with the addition of a second budgie, will I still be able to train them both. and will they be too loud? if you have had two tame birds in the same cage, please tell me about your experience. thankyou. :budgie:

Why do you even want a second bird?

I don't mean to be rude, but I think that is my own business. I just think it would be nice to have another bird in the house.

I had Wheatley for about 4 months, training him on and off as unfortunetly I procrastinate. I decided to get a second budgie, hoping it would force me to train them both consistently. So Dorian came along. I did buckle down and train them both. I had them in the same cage after a month of me letting them hear and then see each other, and I realized they were starting to preffer each others company.
I trained them seperatley but found they wouldn't listen, half the time they would just start calling for each other. I ended up selling Dorian to someone who was home all day, and have found it better with just Wheatley. He listens to me and I've taught him flight recall and turn around.
I don't know if things may have been different if Wheatley was perfectly tame to me, but that's what happened to me when i introduced a second bird.

like eleridragonfly said it's a bad idea to put them in the same cage.when they have eachother they don't really have much use for you making training and bonding difficult.
