how to train a non-hand trained peach faced love bird

My 11 year old daughter got 2 peach faced love birds 2 weeks ago. They were from a pet store in Germany. Don't appear to be hand raised. Besides a ton of patience, is there any technique to helping them become more tame. She is very disappointed in their fear of her.
