Never been bitten?

Postby Electic » Sun Sep 30, 2012 12:00 am

Now, ever since shyla was a few weeks old, she's never bitten anyone in the house besides the occasional lunging that is so common in female eclectus, that she is now growing out of (besides protecting 'nests') But even then, she'll invite me and no one else which I find very honorable, but I don't know if this is a foundation I've set with her ever since she was a baby or if I just have a hardwired female eclectus that just doesn't bite people. =p

Some never bite, with the exception of Ollie who was a nightmare for quite a while I've only been bitten twice in 13 years. Others may nip later on at maturity. Either way I would just enjoy her, it could be her upbringing or it could be her nature. I've no doubt upbringing is quite a big part of it though so well done :)

=p Doing the same thing with the male, he's coming home next week, he's teething a bit so he has no clue how strong that beak is, he's going to be a wood chipper!

My cockatoo has bit me twice, not very hard at all, and both completely my fault when he didn't trust me and I was purposefully pushing limits. He goes after people in the house now though, but often just lunges. :?

My tiel nips a bunch, but that's because she is such a nervous bird with such low confidence. If you handle her right, she won't bite. She doesn't draw blood.

My sister's GCC is a terror due to the socialization. But, again, another hormonal female that when handeled right can be a total dream. We're working on it.

LOL this sounds so bad - my birds really aren't so bad! But all in all, a bird will bite, and my guys have and some will if you really bother them.
