When I am training my Cockatoo to step-up, what he does is he slides his foot to my shirt and starts nipping my cloths. How do you keep him in my arm and not nipping?

are you using his favorite food? and how long are you training for? i get raw almonds mya's favorite and train for about 10 mins or until she flies off.

My had a habit of chewing my shirt when on me. What I did was tug the shirt everytime he went to chew. This put him off balance and he soon equated the fact that he got a non-favourable response everytime he went to chew. Behaviour subsided to the point that he now rarely if ever chews on my shirt when on me. Maybe something as simple as rotating your hand to put him off balance everytime he goes to chew. When he is not chewing make the experience rewarding with scratches/treats....he should get the idea very shortly.
