First time in a harness, and I'm confused.

Discuss the methods and techniques of clicker training, target training and bonding. These are usually the first steps in training a young parrot.

Awesome!

Jacko rides on my shoulder like that and loves it :D

Except when its dark.....then she starts fighting the harness...but ah well.
Congrats, I'm so happy you and Polarn can start doing more stuff together and it opens up an entire world for him to see and explore. I noticed a really positive change in Jacko after she starting going out---less fearful and more happiness in general.
Don't question him being ok with it out of the blue, just work with it

cml---I had that issue with Jacko many years ago---don't try to get Stitch into a harness for a bit, then buy a new harness in a different colour.
Its suddenly not the same harness anymore for whatever reason.

I actually told someone else that if your allowed to put your hand on the birds back and scratch the neck, a harness is more than likely to go on without a fuzz for the first time... as long as someone who knows how the harnes goes on and is able todo it with one hand while playing/cuddling with the bird with the other.

I've seen the owner of this petstore a couple of times now putting on a harness, still amazes me.. I've been using the harness alot now with Polarn but I mean he definitly notices me putting the harness on while watching the owner of the petstore do it... Myself as an observer barely can see how the harness just slips on... So I think I owe him great thanks for making the first time wearing a harness such a fun and stressfree time for him, setting the harness up to be a success... I mean no fuzz about getting it on, getting to go outside without being caged, sitting on the shoulder going by car and well have a couple of hours outing before going home removing the harness... I bet I would have had such a hard time getting the harness on and accepted if attempting myself to begin with...

I agree I think its important to have your bird let you touch him allover then introduce the harness. :D
