My lovebird refuses to be anywhere near me! =(

Postby lovebirdmilo » Sun Jan 13, 2013 10:40 pm

I have a female lovebird and I have had her for almst a year. Only problem is she hates when anyone gets close to her! I have her cage in the livingroom and usually she is always welcome to be in or out. She runs away when I try to pick her up but once i catch her she gives up and will lay in my hands as long as they are closed. As soon as I open them up shes GONE! I havn't clipped her wings but she cant fly so she sort-of swoops down ( UNGRACEFULLY!) and then retreats to somewhere I can't reach! A few times I have gotten her to sit on my shoulder but its never for long! I will appreciate ANY advice, I have no idea what to do! =(
Thanks,
Adrienne <3

Stop trying to grab or go after your bird. Teach the bird to come to you instead using positive reinforcement.
