Imported Ex-Breeder Congo Grey?

Postby gcc878 » Thu Jan 17, 2013 2:21 pm

Hello all!

Ive been an admirer of African Greys for a long time now. I currently have a gcc and two parakeets in my flock.

Recently, ive been in touch with a man wishing to sell his male african grey that has been used only for breeding purposes. He claims that the bird was imported and is not tame or able to be handled. Adoption fee is $300.

I would love to adopt/rescue this bird from him and rehabilitate him into my home as a pet. Do any of you believe that it is possible to tame this imported ex-breeder grey? He is a Congo, with claims that he is in good health and feather. Apparently someone already took the female and has tamed her to be handled. This bird would be living with me in my fairly sound proof apartment. Would an untamed grey be excessively noisy compared to other greys? (my neighbors all have dogs, but i cant hear a single one from inside my apartment)

Im open to all of your honest opinions about the likelihood of having this grey tamed to a handleable pet, or whether it will likely always be wild and fearful of humans.

Thanks!
