Cockatoo or Lorikeet

Okay I know I've said I was thinking of getting a Lorikeet but now Im torn between a lesser sulphur cockatoo. Anyone experienced with either and willing to give advise?

that depends on how much time you can give to the bird. my could entertain herself while i was working. my needs constant attention. even if she doesn't want direct attention she always wants me in the room where she can see me. when i wait for the bus with my son she's in the window the whole time. the noise difference is huge mya can be heard more than a block from my house with all the windows closed. s make a bigger mess though they are cage clingers so their poop goes flying against the wall and stains. both birds are big clowns and alot of fun.

thank you! I've decided on a cockatoo! I know they're loud but I'm willing to put up with it I've been trying to learn everything about but I can't find a site that actually tells me everything. If you know a site could you link me to it, it would be very much appreciated.

Okay I read through the article and (at first I wasn't expecting the noise and it scared me )
it hasn't made me completely turn away from cockatoos but I know know to take more consideration on that part of the story. So thank you for the site

there are alot of s at rescues so if you really want one i would strongly suggest volunteering. the best way to know for sure what you are in for is in person.any rescue will welcome people to come play and help care for their birds. when i was told about mya i did alot of reading to decide if she would be a good fit for our family but having to go visit her at her foster home was the only thing that let me know exactly what i getting. the place where i adopted her is very picky about where their too's go. i was required to read everything, take a week to think about it, talk to the man fostering her for another week, then visit her at the foster home before i was allowed to take her home.

i would suggest a samller cocky like a galah theyre not noisy,theyre cheaper, they make better talkers than the sulfers, theyre easier to care for and less demanding getting my cockatoo was 1000 times harder than i thought.

a cockatoo will make it its life goal to get into trouble and destroy your stuff.

they can be very destructive mine took out part of a wall in my kitchen. any valued possessions i have are hidden under sheets. she has more wood toys than i can count, branches and a whole tree to chew on but she prefers furniture and wood trim around the house.
