Some of them look like matches, I will look at them more later on.
Looking at the b/w picture again,
~the feathers have lots of different shades and dark and light areas, so I think it was likely multicolored
~the head and breast appears to be one and the same color except around the beak, and
~the beak seems too light to have been black/ dark gray or red
The picture is from the 1920's, I don't think it was a prop because the feet look as if they're grabbing on to her finger... but could be. The feathers might have been cut off for aesthetic (?) reasons, but I have no idea.
