Scent of Amazons?

Strange question I know.... so I handled a yellow fronted 'zon yesterday, and as I planted a kiss on her wings I noticed her scent... she smelled sweet.... almost described like musty candy, or something. I have never smelled a parrot that smells so good... is this an Amazon thing or was it something she ate?

Amazing... Is it a hormone thing? I smelled my sennie's scent many times and it wasn't like this... I mean this 'zon smelled like tropical flowers! Pretty impressive.

Nah not afaik, but it will vary in strength. Also, they smell more if stressed, but 'zons always smells like this so its not a point of concern.
Google it, there's tons of discussions on their smell, some like it, some dont ^^.

So fascinating -- I never knew this was a 'zon thing. Also surprised that I never heard of this before. Yes, I love the smell! And interesting that others via a Google search described the scent as "fruit loops" -- I think that is a perfect description. ^^

LOL - Funny how different cultures perceive the same thing so differently - back home, we call it "dirty parrot smell".

I SO wish I had a sense of smell every time people talk about parrot scents! 
I mean, I can't even believe things like bread and apple juice smells, and definitely not a parrot

My Green Cheeked Amazon has an amazingly sweet smell too. Not sure what causes it, but he smells like flowers.
